Hosea 1 · Grade 3
Not My People, Then My People
Read the Story
When Yahweh spoke at first by Hosea, He told him to take a wife. So Hosea went and took Gomer the daughter of Diblaim. God was using Hosea's family to show Israel that they had not been faithful to God.
They had three children. God told Hosea what to name them. The first son was Jezreel. The daughter was Lo-Ruhamah, which means not pitied. The second son was Lo-Ammi, which means not my people. These names were a sad message to Israel.
But God did not stop there. He promised that the number of the children of Israel will be as the sand of the sea. In the place where it was said to them, You are not my people, they will be called children of the living God.
Memory Verse
“Yet the number of the children of Israel will be as the sand of the sea, which can’t be measured or counted; and it will come to pass that, in the place where it was said to them, ‘You are not my people,’ they will be called ‘sons of the living God.’”
