Haggai 1:1 says Yahweh's word came by Haggai the prophet in the second year of Darius the king. The people said it was not yet time to build Yahweh's house. They lived in paneled houses while God's house lay waste. God said, consider your ways. The leaders and people obeyed, and Yahweh said, I am with you. They came and worked on the house of Yahweh.
Haggai 2 says Yahweh's word came again in the seventh month. Some people thought the new temple looked like nothing compared to the old one. God said, be strong and work, for I am with you. Don't be afraid. The silver and gold are his, and the latter glory of this house would be greater than the former. From that day God would bless them. God also promised to make Zerubbabel like a signet ring.
