Genesis 8 · Grade 2
The Dove and the Leaf
Read the Story
God remembered Noah and all the animals in the ark. God sent a wind, and the water began to go down. The ark came to rest on a mountain.
Noah sent out a bird called a dove. The dove could not find a dry place, so it came back. A week later, Noah sent the dove again. This time it came back with a fresh olive leaf in its beak! The land was drying.
At last God told Noah to come out of the ark. Noah, his family and all the animals came out. Noah built an altar and thanked God. God promised that day and night, summer and winter, would keep coming.
Memory Verse
“The dove came back to him at evening and, behold, in her mouth was a freshly plucked olive leaf. So Noah knew that the waters were abated from the earth.”
