Genesis 6 · Grade 4

A Righteous Man in a Wicked World

Name Date

Read and Think

Genesis 6 describes a world that had become very wicked. People's thoughts were set on evil continually, and the earth was filled with violence. God saw it all, and He was grieved in His heart. God is holy, and He takes sin seriously. He said He would send a flood to judge the earth.

Yet one man stood out: Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord. Noah was righteous and blameless among the people of his time, and like Enoch, he walked with God. Noah's goodness came from trusting God, and God showed him grace.

God gave Noah detailed instructions for building an ark: its size, its rooms, a roof, a door, and three decks. God promised to establish His covenant with Noah and keep him, his family, and the animals alive. Noah obeyed completely. He did everything God commanded him, even though it must have seemed strange to build a huge boat.
