Genesis 45 · Grade 3
God Sent Joseph Ahead
Read the Story
Joseph could not control himself any longer. He sent out all his servants and wept so loudly that the Egyptians heard. He said, I am Joseph! Does my father still live? His brothers were too troubled to answer.
Joseph said, Come near to me, please. Then he said, I am Joseph, your brother, whom you sold into Egypt. He went on, Now don't be grieved, nor angry with yourselves, that you sold me here, for God sent me before you to preserve life. He explained that five more years of famine were coming. So now it wasn't you who sent me here, but God. He told them to bring their father and live in the land of Goshen.
Joseph hugged Benjamin and wept, and kissed all his brothers. Pharaoh was pleased and sent wagons and good things for the journey. Joseph told his brothers, See that you don't quarrel on the way. When they told Jacob that Joseph was alive and ruler over Egypt, his heart grew numb. But when he saw the wagons, his spirit revived. Israel said, It is enough. Joseph my son is still alive. I will go and see him before I die.
Memory Verse
