Genesis 41 · Grade 4
God's Perfect Timing
Read and Think
Joseph waited two long years after the cupbearer forgot him. Then, in one day, he went from prisoner to ruler of Egypt. God's timing was perfect. If Joseph had been released earlier, he might not have been there when Pharaoh needed him.
Joseph gave all the credit to God. He did not say he was smart. He said, It isn't in me. Even Pharaoh, who did not worship the true God, could see God's Spirit in Joseph.
Joseph named his sons to show his faith. Manasseh means making to forget, because God had helped him forget his troubles. Ephraim means fruitful, because God had made him fruitful in the land of his suffering. God had turned Joseph's sorrow into blessing.
