Running from Temptation

Name Date

Read and Think

Joseph's life had been turned upside down, but four times this chapter says the Lord was with him. God's presence did not mean everything was easy. It meant God was working in every situation, from Potiphar's house to a prison cell.

Joseph faced strong temptation from Potiphar's wife day after day. He understood that sin is first of all against God. When she would not stop, he ran. In the New Testament, 2 Timothy 2:22 tells us to flee from youthful lusts. Sometimes the wisest thing to do is to get away from temptation.

Doing right cost Joseph his job and his freedom. He was punished for something he did not do. But God was still with him, and Joseph kept serving faithfully. 1 Peter 2:20 says that when we suffer for doing good and endure it, this is pleasing to God.
