Read the Story

Joseph was taken to Egypt and bought by Potiphar, captain of Pharaoh's guard. The Lord was with Joseph, and he prospered. Potiphar saw that the Lord made everything Joseph did succeed, so he put Joseph in charge of his whole household. The Lord blessed Potiphar's house because of Joseph.

Potiphar's wife tried to tempt Joseph to sin with her. Joseph refused. He said his master trusted him with everything. He asked, How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God? She kept asking day after day, but he would not listen. One day she grabbed his garment, and he left it in her hand and ran outside.

She used the garment to lie about Joseph. Potiphar was angry and put Joseph in the prison where the king's prisoners were kept. But the Lord was with Joseph and showed him steadfast love. The keeper of the prison put Joseph in charge of all the prisoners, and the Lord made whatever he did succeed.

Memory Verse

“But Yahweh was with Joseph, and showed kindness to him, and gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison.”
