Genesis 36 · Grade 4
God Keeps Every Promise
Read and Think
Genesis 36 might seem like a list of hard names, but it teaches something important. God had promised Rebekah that two nations would come from her twins. This chapter shows that promise coming true for Esau.
Esau's family grew quickly and had kings early. Meanwhile, Jacob's family would wait many years in Egypt before becoming a nation. Sometimes God's people wait longer, but God's timing is best.
The Edomites were relatives of Israel, but they often opposed Israel later. Still, God later told Israel not to hate an Edomite, because he was their brother (Deuteronomy 23:7). God's Word teaches care even for difficult relatives.
