Genesis 24 · Grade 4
Guided by God
Read and Think
Genesis 24 is the longest chapter in Genesis, and it shows God guiding everyday decisions. Abraham sent his trusted servant to find a wife for Isaac. Abraham wanted Isaac's wife to come from his relatives, and he trusted that God would lead the way.
The servant did not rely only on his own wisdom. He prayed a specific prayer at the well. God answered before he finished speaking. Rebekah's offer to water ten thirsty camels showed her generous, hardworking heart.
The servant worshiped God as soon as he saw the answer, and later told the whole story to Rebekah's family. Rebekah showed courage and faith when she said, I will go, leaving her home much like Abraham once did. God was faithfully guiding the family through which He would bless the world.
