Genesis 22 · Grade 3
The Lord Will Provide
Read the Story
After these things, God tested Abraham. He told him to take his only son Isaac, whom he loved, to the land of Moriah and offer him there. Early the next morning Abraham obeyed. Hebrews 11 says Abraham believed God could even raise Isaac from the dead.
On the third day they saw the mountain. Isaac carried the wood, and Abraham carried the fire. Isaac asked, Here is the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb? Abraham said, God will provide himself the lamb for a burnt offering, my son.
At the place God showed him, Abraham built an altar. But the angel of the Lord called from heaven, Abraham, Abraham! He told Abraham not to harm the boy, and said, Now I know that you fear God. Abraham saw a ram caught by its horns in a thicket and offered it instead of his son. He called the place Yahweh Will Provide. God promised again to bless all nations through Abraham's offspring.
Memory Verse
“Abraham called the name of that place “Yahweh Will Provide”. As it is said to this day, “On Yahweh’s mountain, it will be provided.””
