Genesis 15 · Grade 3
Abram Believed
Read the Story
After the battle, God spoke to Abram in a vision: Don't be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward. Abram asked what good God's gifts were, since he had no child. His servant Eliezer would inherit everything.
God answered, This man will not be your heir, but he who will come out of your own body will be your heir. God brought Abram outside and said, Look now toward the sky, and count the stars, if you are able to count them. Then he said, So your offspring will be. Abram believed the Lord, and God counted it to him as righteousness.
God also promised Abram the land. God told him to prepare animals for a covenant ceremony. As the sun went down, God told Abram that his descendants would be strangers in another land for four hundred years but would come out with great possessions. Then a smoking fire pot and a flaming torch passed between the pieces. God made a covenant to give the land to Abram's offspring.
