Genesis 14 · Grade 3
God Most High
Read the Story
In Lot's day, kings often fought over land. Four kings from the east defeated the king of Sodom and his allies. They took all the goods of Sodom, and they captured Lot, who was living there.
A man who escaped told Abram. Abram led 318 trained men from his own household. They chased the enemy all the way to Dan, attacked by night and defeated them. Abram brought back Lot, his possessions, the women and the other people.
Melchizedek, king of Salem and priest of God Most High, brought out bread and wine and blessed Abram. He said God Most High had given the enemies into Abram's hand. Abram gave him a tenth of everything. The king of Sodom offered Abram the goods, but Abram refused. He did not want anyone to say the king of Sodom had made him rich.
