Ezekiel 36 · Grade 4

A New Heart

Name Date

Read and Think

God told Ezekiel to speak to the mountains of Israel. The nations had mocked the land and said it was theirs. But God said he was for the mountains of Israel. They would grow branches and fruit, and the cities would be filled with people again.

God explained why Israel had been scattered. They had defiled the land with their sin and idols. Even among the nations, they caused God's holy name to be dishonored. Now God would act for the sake of his holy name. He would show the nations that he is holy.

God promised to gather his people and sprinkle clean water on them. He would give them a new heart and a new spirit, removing the heart of stone and giving a heart of flesh. He would put his Spirit within them so they would follow his laws. The empty land would become like the garden of Eden.
