Ezekiel 30 · Grade 4

Alas for the Day

Name Date

Read and Think

God told Ezekiel to wail, Alas for the day! The day of Yahweh was near, a day of clouds and a time of judgment for the nations. Egypt and its allies, Cush, Put, Lud, and others, would fall together.

God would end Egypt's great multitudes by the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon. He would dry up the Nile canals and destroy the idols of Memphis. City after city, from Zoan in the north to No, or Thebes, in the south, would be humbled.

In the eleventh year, God told Ezekiel that he had broken Pharaoh's arm. It would not be bound up to hold a sword again. God would strengthen the arms of Babylon's king and break both of Pharaoh's arms. When Egypt was scattered, they would know that God is Yahweh.

Show What You Know

  1. What did the day of Yahweh mean for Egypt?

  2. Who would end Egypt's multitudes?

  3. What did God do to Egypt's idols?

  4. What picture shows Egypt's loss of power?

Think About It

  1. Egypt's idols could not save it. Why can't anything except God truly protect us?

  2. God strengthened one king and weakened another. What does this show about who rules the world?

Memory Verse

“For the day is near, even Yahweh’s day is near. It will be a day of clouds, a time of the nations.”
