Ezekiel 27 · Grade 4

Perfect in Beauty

Name Date

Read and Think

God told Ezekiel to take up a lamentation, a funeral song, over Tyre. Tyre had said, I am perfect in beauty. God described Tyre as a magnificent merchant ship. Its planks were cypress from Senir, its mast a cedar from Lebanon, its oars oak from Bashan, and its sails embroidered linen from Egypt.

Traders from many lands sailed to Tyre. They brought silver, iron, tin, lead, horses, ivory, ebony, wool, spices, gold, and precious stones. Sadly, some even traded people as slaves. The ships of Tarshish carried its goods.

But the rowers brought the ship into great waters, and the east wind broke it in the heart of the seas. Its riches, sailors, and merchants all sank. People on every coast wailed. Tyre's beauty and wealth could not save it from sinking.
