Ezekiel 11 · Grade 4

A Heart of Flesh

Name Date

Read and Think

Ezekiel says the Spirit brought him to the east gate of Yahweh's house. There twenty-five men, leaders of the people, gave wicked counsel. They claimed the time was not near to build houses and that the city was a cauldron and they were the meat, meaning they felt safe inside its walls.

God told Ezekiel to prophesy against them. Their false confidence would fail, and judgment would come. While Ezekiel prophesied, Pelatiah the son of Benaiah died. Ezekiel fell on his face and asked whether God would make a full end of the remnant of Israel.

God answered with hope. The people in Jerusalem looked down on the exiles, but God would be a sanctuary to the exiles for a little while. He would gather them and give them one heart and a new spirit, replacing the stony heart with a heart of flesh. Then the glory went up to the mountain east of the city, and Ezekiel told the captives everything.

  2. The people in Jerusalem looked down on the exiles, but God was with the exiles. How can God be with people who seem left out?

Memory Verse
