Visions of God

Name Date

Read and Think

Ezekiel 1 begins in the fifth year of King Jehoiachin's captivity. Ezekiel the priest, the son of Buzi, was living with the captives by the river Chebar in the land of the Chaldeans. Yahweh's word came to him, and he says he saw visions of God.

He describes a stormy wind, a great cloud, and flashing fire. In it were four living creatures. Each had the face of a man, a lion, an ox, and an eagle. Beside them were wheels whose rims were full of eyes. When the creatures moved, the wheels moved with them, because the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels.

Over their heads was an expanse like crystal. Above it was the likeness of a throne, and on it a likeness like a man, with fire and brightness all around. The brightness was like a rainbow in the cloud on a rainy day. Ezekiel says this was the appearance of the likeness of Yahweh's glory, and he fell on his face.

Memory Verse

“As the appearance of the rainbow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness all around. This was the appearance of the likeness of Yahweh’s glory. When I saw it, I fell on my face, and I heard a voice of one that spoke.”
