Exodus 34 · Grade 4
Merciful and Gracious
Read and Think
After Israel's great sin, God gave them a second chance. He told Moses to cut new tablets. God's covenant was renewed because of His mercy, not because the people deserved it.
God described Himself as merciful, gracious, slow to anger and full of steadfast love and faithfulness. This description is repeated many times in the Bible (Psalm 103:8; Jonah 4:2). It tells us who God really is.
Moses' face shone after being with God. Second Corinthians 3:18 says that as we look to the Lord, we are changed to become more like Him. Time with God changes us.
