Exodus 3 · Grade 4

The Great I AM

Name Date

Read and Think

God got Moses' attention with a bush that burned without burning up. God told Moses to take off his sandals because God's presence made the place holy. We should come to God with respect and awe.

God told Moses He had seen, heard and come down to help His people. God is not far away. He cares when His people suffer.

God's name, I AM WHO I AM, means God exists by Himself and never changes. He depends on nothing. In the New Testament, Jesus uses the same name, I AM, for Himself (John 8:58); Christians read this as showing that He is God.

Show What You Know

  1. Why did Moses take off his sandals?

  2. What three things did God say He had done for His people?

  3. What does the name I AM teach about God?

  4. What name did Jesus use for Himself in John 8:58?

Think About It

  1. Moses asked, Who am I? God said, I will be with you. How does that help when you feel too small for a task?

  2. How can you show respect and awe when you worship God?

Memory Verse

God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM,” and he said, “You shall tell the children of Israel this: ‘I AM has sent me to you.’”
