Exodus 20 · Grade 3
God Speaks the Commandments
Read the Story
God spoke all these words: I am Yahweh your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. God reminded them that He saved them first. Then He gave the commandments.
Have no other gods before Me. Do not make idols to bow down to. Do not misuse the name of the Lord. Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy. You may work six days, but the seventh day is a rest for the Lord. Honor your father and your mother.
Do not murder. Do not break your marriage promise. Do not steal. Do not lie about your neighbor. Do not covet, which means wanting what belongs to someone else. The people saw the lightning and heard the trumpet. They stood far away and shook. They asked Moses to speak to them. Moses said, Don't be afraid, for God has come to test you, and that his fear may be before you, that you won't sin.
Memory Verse
