God's Treasured People

Name Date

Read and Think

At Sinai, God reminded Israel that He had rescued them first. Before He gave any laws, He said, I bore you on eagles' wings, and brought you to myself. God saved them because He loved them, not because they had earned it.

God called Israel to be His treasure, a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. They were to show the world what God is like. The people promised to obey.

Then God showed His holiness. Thunder, lightning, fire, smoke and a loud trumpet filled the mountain. The people had to prepare and keep a border. God is near to His people, but He is also holy and awesome.

Show What You Know

  1. What did God do for Israel before He gave them laws?

  2. What three things did God call Israel?

  3. Name two signs of God's holiness on the mountain.

  4. Why did the people need a border around the mountain?

Think About It

  1. God rescued Israel before He gave them rules. Why does that order matter for how we obey God?

  2. How can you show others what God is like this week?

Memory Verse

“‘You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles’ wings, and brought you to myself.”
