Esther 9 · Grade 3
The Feast of Purim
Read the Story
The day came that Haman had chosen. The enemies of the Jews hoped to rule over them. But it turned the other way! The Jews gathered in their cities to protect themselves. No one could stand against them. Even the princes helped the Jews. The Jews were kept safe.
After that, the Jews had rest. They made a day of feasting and gladness. They sent gifts to one another. They gave gifts to the poor.
Mordecai wrote to the Jews in every land. He told them to keep these days every year. The days were called Purim, after Pur, the lot that Haman had cast. Queen Esther wrote to confirm Purim. It was written in the book. Christians believe it was God who saved them.
Memory Verse
“The commandment of Esther confirmed these matters of Purim; and it was written in the book.”
