Esther 10 · Grade 4
A Leader Who Served
Read and Think
King Ahasuerus laid a tribute on the land and on the islands of the sea. His acts of power and might are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Media and Persia. The king who once signed Haman's decree now ruled with Mordecai at his side.
The full account of Mordecai's greatness is recorded there too. Mordecai the Jew was next to King Ahasuerus. He was great among the Jews. He was accepted by the multitude of his brothers.
Mordecai did not use power for himself. He sought the good of his people and spoke peace to all his descendants. Haman sought his own glory and fell. Mordecai sought his people's good and was honored. The book ends with peace. Christians see God's faithfulness here, even when He is unseen.
