Deuteronomy 7 · Grade 3
Loved and Chosen
Read the Story
Moses told Israel that they were a holy people, chosen by God to be His own. God did not choose them because they were greater than other nations. They were the fewest of all peoples.
God chose them because He loved them and kept the oath He swore to their fathers. He is the faithful God who keeps covenant and loving kindness to a thousand generations of those who love Him.
Israel must not follow the gods of the nations in the land, but burn their idols. God promised to bless their families, grain, wine, oil, and flocks. When they felt afraid, they should remember what God did to Pharaoh. God would drive out the nations little by little.
Memory Verse
“You shall not be scared of them; for Yahweh your God is among you, a great and awesome God.”
