Deuteronomy 4 · Grade 3
Seek Him with All Your Heart
Read the Story
Moses told Israel to listen to God's laws so they could live and go into the land. They must not add to God's word or take away from it. Other nations would see how wise God's laws were.
At Horeb, God spoke to them from the middle of the fire. They heard a voice but saw no form. That is why they must never make an image of any man, animal, bird, or fish to worship. God wrote the ten commandments on two stone tablets.
Moses warned that if they turned to idols, they would be scattered. But if they sought God with all their heart, they would find Him, for He is a merciful God. Moses also set apart three cities of refuge east of the Jordan.
Memory Verse
“For Yahweh your God is a merciful God. He will not fail you nor destroy you, nor forget the covenant of your fathers which he swore to them.”
