Deuteronomy 30 · Grade 4
A Changed Heart and a Clear Choice
Read and Think
Deuteronomy 30 looks past exile to hope. Even if Israel were scattered to the ends of heaven, God would gather them when they returned to Him. More than that, God would circumcise their hearts. He would do inside them what they could not do themselves, so they could love Him fully.
God's word was not hidden in the sky or across the sea. It was very near, in the mouth and heart. Paul quotes this passage in Romans 10. The word near you is the message of faith: confess Jesus as Lord and believe God raised Him.
Moses ends with a choice. Life and death, blessing and curse, were set before them. Choose life, that you may live. Life meant loving God, obeying Him, and clinging to Him, for He is your life.
