Deuteronomy 22 · Grade 3
Love in Little Things
Read the Story
If Israelites saw their brother's ox or sheep going astray, they must not hide themselves. They must bring it back. If the owner lived far away or was unknown, they must keep it at home until he came looking for it. The same was true for a donkey, a garment, or any lost thing.
If a neighbor's donkey or ox fell down on the road, they must help lift it up. If they found a bird's nest, they could take the young, but must let the mother go.
A new house needed a railing around the flat roof, so that no one would fall. Israel must not mix seeds in a vineyard or plow with an ox and a donkey together. They wore tassels on their cloaks. God also gave laws to protect marriage.
Memory Verse
“You shall not see your brother’s ox or his sheep go astray and hide yourself from them. You shall surely bring them again to your brother.”
