Deuteronomy 2 · Grade 3
Peace with the Neighbors
Read the Story
After Kadesh, Israel traveled in the wilderness for many years. They circled Mount Seir until God said it was time to turn north. The older generation died in the wilderness, just as God had said.
God told Israel not to fight with the children of Esau in Edom, or with Moab and Ammon, the children of Lot. God had given them their lands. Israel was to buy food and water with money and pass by in peace.
Moses said God had blessed the work of their hands and knew their walk through the great wilderness. For forty years they lacked nothing. When Sihon king of Heshbon refused to let them pass, God gave Israel the victory.
Memory Verse
“For Yahweh your God has blessed you in all the work of your hands. He has known your walking through this great wilderness. These forty years, Yahweh your God has been with you. You have lacked nothing.”
