Deuteronomy 18 · Grade 3
Listen to Him
Read the Story
The priests and Levites had no share of land. God was their inheritance. The people gave them the shoulder, cheeks, and inner parts of sacrifices, plus firstfruits of grain, wine, oil, and wool.
Israel must not copy the nations. There must be no one who uses divination, tells fortunes, practices sorcery, or tries to speak with the dead. God hates these things. Israel must be blameless with God.
God promised to raise up a prophet like Moses from among their brothers. God would put His words in his mouth. If a prophet spoke in God's name and the thing did not happen, God had not sent him. The apostle Peter said Jesus is the prophet Moses promised (Acts 3:22).
Memory Verse
“Yahweh your God will raise up to you a prophet from among you, of your brothers, like me. You shall listen to him.”
