Help the Poor

Name Date

Read the Story

God told Israel, Every seven years, forget what people owe you. Let them start new.

If you see a poor person, do not close your hand. Open your hand to him. Give what he needs. Do not be sad when you give. God will bless you.

If a servant worked for you six years, let him go free in year seven. Do not send him away with nothing. Give him sheep, grain, and wine. Remember, you were slaves in Egypt, and God set you free.

Memory Verse

“For the poor will never cease out of the land. Therefore I command you to surely open your hand to your brother, to your needy, and to your poor, in your land.”

Deuteronomy 15:11 (WEB)
