Deuteronomy 13 · Grade 3
Love God Above All
Read the Story
Moses warned that a prophet or a dreamer might give a sign that comes true and then say, Let's go after other gods. Israel must not listen. God would be testing them, to know whether they loved Him with all their heart and soul.
The temptation could come from a brother, a son, a daughter, a wife, or a close friend. It could even come from a whole town. Israel must never agree to serve other gods, no matter who asked.
Instead, they must walk after God, fear Him, keep His commandments, obey His voice, serve Him, and cling to Him. Leading people away from God was treated as a very serious crime in Israel.
Memory Verse
“You shall walk after Yahweh your God, fear him, keep his commandments, and obey his voice. You shall serve him, and cling to him.”
