Daniel 7 · Grade 5

The Ancient of Days and the Son of Man

Name Date

Read and Think

Daniel 7 begins the visions of Daniel. In the first year of Belshazzar, Daniel saw the four winds of the sky stir up the great sea. Four great animals came up from the sea, different from one another. The fourth was awesome, powerful, and exceedingly strong, and it had ten horns. Among them came up a little horn with eyes like a man and a mouth speaking arrogant words. The vision shows human power growing proud.

Then the scene turns to heaven. Thrones were placed, and one who was Ancient of Days sat. His clothing was white as snow, and the hair of his head like pure wool. A river of fire flowed before him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him. The judgment was set. The books were opened. The arrogant horn could not stand against God's court.

Then Daniel saw one like a son of man coming with the clouds of the sky. He came to the Ancient of Days, and dominion was given him, and glory, and a kingdom. His dominion is an everlasting dominion, which will not pass away. The angel said the four animals are four kings, but the saints of the Most High will receive the kingdom. Christians believe this points to Jesus, and in the New Testament, Jesus said, You will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of Power, and coming with the clouds of the sky (Mark 14:62).
