Daniel 10 · Grade 5

Peace Be to You. Be Strong.

Name Date

Read and Think

Daniel 10 begins the last vision of the book, in the third year of Cyrus king of Persia. Daniel was mourning three whole weeks, eating no pleasant food. By the great river, he saw a man clothed in linen, his face as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as flaming torches. The men with Daniel did not see the vision, but a great quaking fell on them, and they fled.

Daniel was left alone, and his strength was gone. A hand touched him and set him on his knees. The messenger said, Don't be afraid, Daniel; for from the first day that you set your heart to understand, and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard. The delay was not silence from God. The prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood him twenty-one days, until Michael came to help.

Three times Daniel was touched and strengthened. He was told, Greatly beloved man, don't be afraid. Peace be to you. Be strong. Yes, be strong. The chapter shows that there is a real spiritual conflict behind the events of the world, but God's messengers are sent to strengthen His people. The details are not fully explained, so Christians speak about them with humility.
