Daniel 10 · Grade 4

Greatly Beloved

Name Date

Read and Think

In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia, Daniel was mourning three whole weeks. He ate no pleasant food, and no meat or wine came into his mouth. Then he was by the side of the great river. He looked up and saw a man clothed in linen. His face was like lightning, his eyes like flaming torches, and his voice like a crowd.

The men with Daniel did not see the vision, but they fled to hide. Daniel was left alone. No strength remained in him, and he fell into a deep sleep on his face. Then a hand touched him and set him on his knees. The man said, Daniel, you greatly beloved man, understand the words that I speak to you.

The messenger said Daniel's words had been heard from the first day. He had been delayed twenty-one days, but Michael came to help him. Daniel was still weak, so one like a man touched him again and strengthened him. He was told, Peace be to you. Be strong. Yes, be strong.

  2. God sent comfort when Daniel was weak. How can you encourage a friend who feels weak?

Memory Verse

Then he said to me, “Don’t be afraid, Daniel; for from the first day that you set your heart to understand, and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard. I have come for your words’ sake.

Dear God, thank You for making me strong when I am weak. Help me . Amen.

Take It Home

For families: talk about these together.

  • How does knowing God loves you help you face hard things?
  • Daniel's friends ran and hid, but Daniel stayed. How can you stay close to God when others walk away?
