2 Thessalonians 2: Stand Firm

2 Thessalonians 2 addresses the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Some had been shaken by a false message that the day of the Lord had already come. Paul tells them not to be deceived, because certain things must happen first, including the revealing of the man of sin, whom the Lord Jesus will destroy at his coming. Paul thanks God that he chose them for salvation through the Spirit and belief in the truth. He tells them: stand firm and hold the traditions which you were taught. He prays that God will comfort their hearts.

2 Thessalonians 3: Do Not Grow Weary

2 Thessalonians 3 begins with Paul asking for prayer that the word of the Lord will spread quickly. He reminds them, But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one. Paul prays that the Lord will direct their hearts into God's love. He warns about some who refuse to work, and he reminds them that he worked night and day as an example. He tells them not to grow weary in doing what is right. He prays that the Lord of peace will give them peace at all times, and he signs the letter with his own hand.
