Read the Story

David was very sad about Absalom. His people were sad too. Joab told David to go out and speak kindly to his people. So David sat in the gate, and the people came to him.

The king came back to the Jordan River. Shimei came. He was the man who had said mean words to David. Now he said, I have sinned. David said, You will not die.

Mephibosheth came to meet the king. He said he was glad the king had come home in peace. An old man named Barzillai had given David food. David said, Come live with me. Barzillai said he was too old. David kissed him and blessed him.

Memory Verse

Mephibosheth said to the king, “Yes, let him take all, because my lord the king has come in peace to his own house.”
