Read the Story

The wife of a prophet came to Elisha. Her husband had died. She owed money and could not pay. She had only a jar of oil. Elisha told her to borrow many empty jars. She shut the door and poured. Every jar filled. When there were no more jars, the oil stopped. She sold the oil and paid her debt.

A rich woman in Shunem made a small room for Elisha. Elisha said she would have a son, and she did. When the boy grew, he got sick and died. She went to Elisha. He came and prayed. He lay on the boy, and the boy's body grew warm. The boy sneezed seven times and opened his eyes!

During a famine, the prophets made stew. Someone put in wild gourds that made it poison. Elisha threw in flour, and the stew was safe. A man brought twenty loaves. Elisha said to feed one hundred men. They ate and had some left over.

Memory Verse

For families: talk about these together.

  • How can you help a family that is running out of money?
  • How can you make room for others?
