Carried Away

Name Date

Read the Story

Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up. Jehoiakim served him three years. Then he rebelled. The Lord sent raiders against Judah. This came because of the sins of Manasseh, as the prophets had said.

Jehoiachin became king at eighteen. He ruled only three months and did evil. Babylon's army came and put Jerusalem under siege. Jehoiachin went out to the king of Babylon. He gave up with his mother, servants, and princes.

Nebuchadnezzar took the treasures of the Lord's house and the king's house. He cut up the gold things Solomon had made. He carried away the king and ten thousand captives. He took the craftsmen and smiths. Only the poorest people were left. Babylon made Zedekiah king. But Zedekiah rebelled against Babylon.

Memory Verse

“He carried away all Jerusalem, and all the princes, and all the mighty men of valor, even ten thousand captives, and all the craftsmen and the smiths. No one remained except the poorest people of the land.”
