The Wrong Kind of Help
Read the Story
Ahaz was twenty when he became king. He ruled sixteen years in Jerusalem. He did not do right like David. He walked in the ways of Israel's kings. He offered sacrifices on the high places and under every green tree.
Rezin of Syria and Pekah of Israel came to fight Jerusalem. Ahaz sent a message to Tiglath Pileser of Assyria. He called himself the Assyrian king's servant and son. He asked him for help. He sent silver and gold from the Lord's house as a gift. The king of Assyria came and took Damascus.
Ahaz went to Damascus to meet the king of Assyria. He saw an altar there. He sent a drawing of it to Urijah the priest. Urijah built one just like it. Ahaz moved the Lord's bronze altar aside. He changed things in the temple for the king of Assyria. Then Ahaz died, and his son Hezekiah became king.
Memory Verse
