2 Chronicles 36 · Grade 3
Because He Had Compassion
Read the Story
The last kings of Judah did evil in Yahweh's sight. The king of Babylon carried some of the vessels of Yahweh's house to Babylon. Zedekiah did not humble himself before Jeremiah the prophet.
Yahweh sent his messengers again and again. He had compassion on his people and his house. But they mocked them and despised his words. So Babylon came. The people were carried away.
The land rested seventy years, as Jeremiah had said. Then Yahweh stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia. Cyrus wrote that Yahweh told him to build a house in Jerusalem. Whoever is among his people, let him go up.
Memory Verse
““Cyrus king of Persia says, ‘Yahweh, the God of heaven, has given all the kingdoms of the earth to me; and he has commanded me to build him a house in Jerusalem, which is in Judah. Whoever there is among you of all his people, Yahweh his God be with him, and let him go up.’””
