2 Chronicles 35 · Grade 3
Encouraged to Serve
Read the Story
Josiah kept a Passover to Yahweh in Jerusalem. He set the priests in their offices. He encouraged them in the service of Yahweh's house.
Josiah gave the people thirty thousand lambs and goats from his own flocks. His leaders gave freely too. The singers stood in their places as David had ordered. The gatekeepers did not need to leave their gates, for the Levites made ready for them.
No Passover like it had been kept since the days of Samuel the prophet. Later Neco king of Egypt came to fight. Neco said God had sent him, but Josiah would not listen. Josiah was wounded and died. All Judah and Jeremiah mourned for him.
