2 Chronicles 31 · Grade 4
Generous Hearts
Read and Think
When the Passover ended, Israel went out. They broke the pillars and cut down the Asherah poles in Judah, Benjamin, Ephraim, and Manasseh. Hezekiah set the priests and Levites in their groups. He gave from his own things for the burnt offerings, as the law said.
He told the people to give the portion of the priests and Levites. Then they could give themselves to the law of Yahweh. As soon as the word went out, Israel gave much. They brought the firstfruits of grain, new wine, oil, and honey. They laid the gifts in heaps from the third month to the seventh.
When Hezekiah saw the heaps, he blessed Yahweh. Azariah the chief priest said they had eaten and had plenty left, for Yahweh had blessed his people. Storerooms were prepared. Hezekiah did what was good, right, and faithful. He did every work with all his heart and prospered.
