2 Chronicles 23 · Grade 3
The Covenant Renewed
Read the Story
In the seventh year, Jehoiada took courage. He made a covenant with the captains. They gathered the Levites and leaders from all Judah to God's house.
Jehoiada said the king's son must reign, as Yahweh had spoken concerning the sons of David. They set guards around the house. Then they brought out Joash, put the crown on him, and gave him the law. They anointed him and shouted for the king to live long.
Athaliah was removed. Jehoiada made a covenant that they would be Yahweh's people. They tore down the house of Baal. Jehoiada set the priests and Levites to serve again with singing. All the people rejoiced.
Memory Verse
“Jehoiada made a covenant between himself, all the people, and the king, that they should be Yahweh’s people.”
