2 Chronicles 18 · Grade 4
One True Voice
Read and Think
Jehoshaphat had riches and honor, but he made an alliance with Ahab by marriage. Ahab asked him to join the attack on Ramoth Gilead. Jehoshaphat agreed, but he asked Ahab to inquire first for Yahweh's word.
Ahab's four hundred prophets all told him to go up and prosper. Jehoshaphat asked if there was another prophet of Yahweh. Ahab admitted there was Micaiah, but he hated him. The messenger urged Micaiah to agree with the others. Micaiah answered that he would say only what his God says.
Micaiah saw Israel scattered on the mountains like sheep without a shepherd. He said a lying spirit was in the mouths of Ahab's prophets. Ahab disguised himself in battle, but a man drew his bow at random and struck him. When enemies surrounded Jehoshaphat, he cried out, and Yahweh helped him.
