2 Chronicles 15 · Grade 5

Found by Those Who Seek

Read and Think

Azariah's message is the heart of Chronicles. Yahweh is with you while you are with him. If they sought Him, He would be found by them; if they forsook Him, He would forsake them. Israel's history proved it. In times without a teaching priest and without the law, trouble came, but when they turned to God in distress and sought him, he was found.

Asa responded with courage. He cleared away idols across Judah and Benjamin and the captured cities, and repaired Yahweh's altar. Faithful people from Ephraim, Manasseh, and Simeon joined him, for they saw that God was with him. Revival was spreading beyond Judah.

The great assembly made a covenant to seek Yahweh with all their heart and soul. The result was joy: they had sought him with their whole desire, and he was found by them, and he gave them rest. Asa's heart was perfect all his days, even though the high places remained. In the New Testament, Jesus promises, seek, and you will find (Matthew 7:7).
