1 Kings 9 · Grade 3
A Second Visit
Read the Story
After Solomon finished building God's house and his own house, God appeared to him a second time, as He had at Gibeon. God said that He had heard Solomon's prayer. He had made the house holy and put His name there forever.
God told Solomon to walk before Him as David did, with a true heart. Then his family would always sit on the throne. But if they served other gods, Israel would be cut off from the land.
Solomon gave Hiram twenty cities in Galilee. Hiram did not like them. Solomon built up many cities, such as Hazor and Gezer. He also built a fleet of ships. Hiram sent sailors who knew the sea. They sailed to Ophir and brought back gold to King Solomon.
Memory Verse
“Yahweh said to him, “I have heard your prayer and your supplication that you have made before me. I have made this house holy, which you have built, to put my name there forever; and my eyes and my heart shall be there perpetually.”
