Solomon's Prayer
Read the Story
When the temple was finished, Solomon called the leaders of Israel. The priests carried the ark into the most holy place. They set it under the wings of the cherubim. There was nothing in the ark except the two stone tablets Moses put there.
When the priests came out, a cloud filled the house. They could not stand to serve, because the glory of the Lord filled the house. Solomon blessed the people and praised God for keeping His promise to David.
Then Solomon spread out his hands toward heaven and prayed. He said there is no God like the Lord in heaven or on earth. He asked God to listen when His people prayed toward this house. He asked God to forgive them when they turned back. He even asked God to hear foreigners who came to pray. Then the people held a feast for fourteen days. They went home joyful.
Memory Verse
““Blessed be Yahweh, who has given rest to his people Israel, according to all that he promised. There has not failed one word of all his good promise, which he promised by Moses his servant.”
