A Promise Kept

Name Date

Read the Story

King David was very old. His son Adonijah said he would be king. But David had made a promise. He said Solomon would be king after him.

Nathan the prophet came to David. Bathsheba, Solomon's mother, came too. They told David what Adonijah had done. David kept his promise.

Solomon rode on David's own mule. Zadok the priest poured oil on his head. They blew the trumpet. All the people shouted, Long live King Solomon! They were so happy that the ground shook.

Memory Verse

Zadok the priest took the horn of oil from the Tent, and anointed Solomon. They blew the trumpet; and all the people said, “Long live King Solomon!”
